Eduardo Machado is a senior partner at the firm and leads the trademarks team. His practice focuses on strategic advice regarding the development, maintenance and enforcement of trademark portfolios for a wide range of clients.
Eduardo actively participates in a wide number of IP associations, such as the International Trademark Association, MARQUES and the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, promoting the exchange of experience and improving the capacity to understand the dynamics of the global business environment.
Eduardo is also an arbiter at the domain name dispute resolution centers of both WIPO and NAF and has been responsible for several important decisions involving cross border IP disputes.

Roberto P. Vieira de Mello is one of the founding partners of Montaury Pimenta, Machado & Vieira de Mello and leads the firm’s patent team.. He has a law degree from the University Candido Mendes, in Rio de Janeiro and is an attorney at law admitted to the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) Rio de Janeiro Section since 1975, being also a registered Industrial Property Agent.
Roberto has an extensive practice with patents, trademarks, contracts and litigation, advising his domestic and international clients on the entire spectrum of IP matters, ranging from licensing to contentious matters, as well as to the obtention of registrations and prosecution services, besides the coordination of IP issues in different jurisdictions worldwide.
Roberto has served as an officer and a committee member in several national and international associations, notably the Brazilian Association of Industrial Property Agents (ABAPI), the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (ABPI), the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) and the International Trademark Association (INTA).
He has authored several legal articles and regularly lectures in conferences and seminars in Brazil and abroad.

Ricardo Vieira de Mello is a senior partner at the firm and heads the São Paulo office.
Ricardo served as vice-president of ABPI - Brazilian Association of Intellectual Property in the bienniums 2000/2001 and 2002/2003, and is a Lifetime Honorary Member of its Board of Directors. He was also President of ABAPI - Brazilian Association of Industrial Property Agents in the biennium 2000/2001, and currently, is an Honorary Counselor and Director of Institutional Relations of the association. He was vice-president of ASPI (São Paulo Association of Intellectual Property), and currently is a member of its Fiscal and Advisory Board. Also, he was President of ALAE (Alliance of Business Advocacy) in the biennium 2021 and 2022.
Ricardo is a member of the Industrial Property and Piracy Commission of OAB/RJ (Brazilian Bar Association, Rio de Janeiro section) and the Industrial Property Commission of OAB-SP (Brazilian Bar Association, São Paulo section, Jabaquara/Saúde sub-section).
He was Coordinator, from August 1996 to December 2007, of the Permanent Commission for Studies on Trademarks of ABPI and was elected Director of Institutional Relations of ASPI – São Paulo Association of Industrial Property, for the bienniums 2013/2015 and 2017/2019.

Clarissa Jaegger, lawyer and partner at Montaury Pimenta Machado & Vieira de Mello, has been practicing Intellectual Property since joining the firm in 2001. Clarissa manages the trademark portfolio of several large clients in a wide variety of fields such as cosmetics, pharmaceutical, healthcare, entertainment, telecommunication, technology, automobiles, finance, retail and other service businesses. She also has extensive experience in client consultation on IP matters, carrying out due diligence processes and the drafting of IP agreements.
Clarissa is the coordinator of the Trademarks Committee of the ABPI (Brazilian Association of Intellectual Property) and a member of the Argentinian Association of Industrial Property Agents, with the aim of protecting client interests in Argentina and to improve the trade relations between two of the most important economies in South America. Clarissa is also responsible for the firm’s Asian desk and has been attending several conferences in the Asia-Oceania region for more than 10 years, including the Asian Patent Attorneys Association, LawAsia and China Trademark Association.
Her substantial knowledge in Intellectual Property led to her recognition as a reliable IP professional by several international guides, such as the WTR1000, Leaders League, Brazil Best Counsel, WIPR Leaders, and the Client Choice Award.

Joana de Mattos Siqueira is partner and part of the firm’s trademarks team. With more than 20 years of experience acting an attorney in Intellectual Property, her practice involves all procedures for registration of trademarks before the INPI, including opposition and other administrative petitions, as well as strategic analysis for complex trademark issues, with the aim of avoiding litigation, where possible.
Joana is responsible for the management of trademark portfolios for major international companies and actively participates in worldwide organizations such as INTA, ASIPI and ECTA. She is currently the National Delegate of ASIPI (Inter-American Association of Industrial Property), President of the D&I committee for the same organization, member of INTA´s Leadership Committee and board member of INTA Foundation, member of Women in Law Mentoring Association and member of the Professional Affairs Committee of ECTA (European Communities Association). She is one of the chairs of ABPI (Brazilian Association of Intellectual Property)´s Diversity and Inclusion committee. Joana is constantly involved in the organization of IP events.
In addition, Joana has always been very active in PRO BONO work and on social responsibility issues. For over 8 years she was Vice Chair of ASIPI´s Social Responsibility Committee, undertaking social work initiatives in different countries and for 4 years she was a member of INTA´s Pro Bono Committee. Furthermore, Joana serves on Montaury Pimenta’s Executive Committee, is leading the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion´s Committee, the mentorship program called “Incluir Direito” in partnership with CESA (Law Firms´ research center) and is member of the WLM (Women in Law mentoring).
She is member of WIPLA (Women´s Intellectual Property Lawyers Association), has been nominated among the most influential women in IP by the publication World IP Review 2020 publication, Diversity Champion in IP 2022 by the same publication and participates in various “IP Women events” such as MIP International Women´s Leadership Forum.
