On May 5, 2025, the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC) published Ordinance GM/MDIC No. 110, which approves a new schedule of official fees for services provided by the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BPTO).
The newly issued ordinance introduces updated service codes and revises several existing fees across key areas, including patents, trademarks, technology contracts, and industrial designs. These changes aim to streamline the fee structure and better reflect the complexity of services rendered by the BPTO.
Further developments followed with the publication of Ordinance No. 10 on May 9, 2025, by the BPTO itself. This ordinance sets forth guidelines for granting a 50% discount on official fees to individual applicants, provided they do not own or are not affiliated with a company operating within the relevant sector of the application.
