Russia allows IP compulsory licensing against sanctioning states
Russia's Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced yesterday, March 7, that rights owners from territories that have sanctioned Russia would not be entitled to any compensation for the unauthorised use of their intellectual property.
Although limited information is available on the government’s intentions, IP lawyers from the country say this effectively means that the Russian government is looking to exercise the compulsory licensing provision stipulated under Article 1360 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation.
